ANCASTER—Three early goals by the St. Catharines Falcons were too much for the Ancaster Avalanche to overcome as they dropped a 5-3 decision to St. Catharines in Golden Horseshoe Conference Junior B hockey action last night in the Morgan Firestone Arena before 229 fans.
The loss was the second in a row for the Avs and leaves them tied with the Welland Junior Canadians with 41 points apiece. Ancaster has 18 wins, 11 losses and five overtime-shootout losses.
The next action for Ancaster is Saturday, Jan. 18 when they welcome the Thorold Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. in the Firestone Arena. The following night the Avs play at Welland against the Junior Canadians at 7 p.m. in the Welland Arena.
Chris Klack and Zach Nieminen paced the Ancaster attack with a goal and an assist each with Dustin Chenier adding a single goal. Dillan Walker, Kyle Woodhouse, Cam Blakely–short-handed—, Brandon Cercone, and Brennan Feasey on an unassisted powerplay scored for St. Catharines.
