Hamilton Smashes its way to volleyball title


The Hamilton Smash 15U girls volleyball team claimed the Gold medal at the OVA Challenge Cup Trillium “B” Tournament in Welland. The team went undefeated through the day and won the championship match in a dramatic comeback.

After dropping the first set, Smash won the next two sets for the title over the Etobicoke Eagles. Set scores were 16-25, 25-23, 15-13.

In round robin play, Smash tamed the Etobicoke Titans, 25-19, 25-18, and calmed the Niagara Rapids, 25-19, 25-18.

Advancing to the playoffs, the Burlington Blaze were extinguished in the quarter-finals, 25-18, 25-14 before the Hurricanes had the wind taken from them, 32-30, 25-20 in the semi-final.
