Bulldogs unable to dig out of hole


bulldogsA three-goal deficit proved too much for the Hamilton Bulldogs, who fell 4-1 to the visiting Chicago Wolves on Sunday (Jan. 26) in an American Hockey League game at Copps Coliseum.

The loss left Hamilton with a 20-18-0-4 record while the Wolves improved to 23-15-2-2.

Chicago led 2-0 after the first period from goals by Dmitrij Jaskin and Tyler Shattock slightly more than a minute apart. Just 1:28 into the second period defenceman Joel Edmundson gave the Wolves their third marker.

Less than two minutes later, Christian Thomas gave Hamilton their lone scores with his fifth goal of the season.

Wolves defenceman Mark Cundari finished the scoring 12:02 of the second period.

Robert Mayer made 40 saves in the Bulldogs net in the loss. Matt Climie made 21 saves for the Wolves.

The Bulldogs went 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Wolves went 1-for-6.

Hamilton’s next game is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31 when the ‘Dogs will travel to Abbotsford, B.C., to take on the Heat. The Bulldogs will return to Copps Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 15 when they will host the Texas Stars.
