The Real McCoys continue to add to their roster in a bid to win April’s Allan Cup tournament, which Dundas will host. The week-long tournament will run April 14-19 in the JL Grightmire Arena.
Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs forward Greg Stewart was signed by the Real McCoys along with former Washington Capitals goaltending draft pick and Hamilton native Daren Machensey.
Stewart played parts of three seasons 2008-10 with the National Hockey League Canadiens. He also played for the Chicago Wolves and the Oklahoma City Barons in the American Hockey League. He was a member of the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League in 2012-13.
Machensey played three seasons with the Hershey Bears in the AHL. He also had AHL stints with Manitoba Moose, Springfield Falcons, Worcester Sharks. In the East Coast Hockey League he played for Elmira, Reading, and South Carolina. He played 19 games in the EIHL with the Braehead Clan.
“Greg will add experience and enthusiasm to our lineup, while Machensey adds depth to our already strong goaltending combination of Mike Mole and Bryan Worosz,” said Don Robertson, the Real McCoys president and general manager.
