Two goals in 13 seconds in the third period allowed Whitby to force overtime, however, the Dundas Real McCoys prevailed with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Dunlops in Friday night’s (Jan. 31) Allan Cup Hockey in the JL Grightmire Arena.
Scott Mifsud netted the game-winner in the shootout after Pete MacKellar, John Scrymgeour and Brett McConnachie’s shots failed to find their way past Dundas goalkeeper Mike Mole.
Darryl Smith and Mifsud each had a goal and two assists for Dundas in regulation time with Cam Watson adding another goal. Patrick Jobb, Shane Terry and Chris Purves replied for the Dunlops.
In other action, Brantford Blast pummelled Norwood Vipers, 16-2, in the Telephone City.
Dundas leads ACH with 14 wins, three losses and one shootout loss for 29 points. Brantford is second with 27 points (13-4-0-1) while the Dunlops hold third with a 12-4-0-1 record.
