Mackinnon enjoyed McMaster’s best result at the York Open on Saturday, claiming a silver medal at the 1,000m distance in a time of 2:58.14.

The third-year Marauder added to her medal count on the season, which included a 1,500m bronze at the Don Wright Invitational and a silver alongside teammates Kaitlyn Pansegrau, Megan Beverley and Maddy Benjamin in the 4x800m relay at the McGill Invitational.

Mackinnon will travel to Boston this coming weekend alongside a select group of Marauders to compete in the Valentines Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Garneau was one of three Marauders to reach the podium at the Western Open on Saturday (Feb. 1), winning bronze in the 68kg weight class.

Garneau shut out Memorial’s Steve Adams with a suplex in the first round, before losing a 14-6 decision to the eventual division champion, Brock’s CJ Hudson. In the consolation rounds, Garneau defeated Calgary’s Kyle Horvath 11-4 to reach the bronze-medal match, where he out-pointed Matt Jagas of the London Wrestling Club 14-2 to secure a podium position.
