MVC 14U takes Silver from their seniors


The Mountain Volleyball Club 14U Black team moved up an age division and won the Silver medal at the 15U McGregor Cup – Trillium C held in St. Catharines on the weekend (Feb. 8-9).

Finishing first in pool play, MVC 14U Black defeated Etobicoke 381, 25-9, 25-8 and the Etobicoke Titans-Hyperion, 25-23, 25-12.

In the quarter-finals, MVC carried on to defeat the Etobicoke Titans Blue, 14-25, 25-23, 15-0, and clipped the Oakville EVP Eagles, 26-24, 25-22, in the semi-finals.

In the championship match, MVC 14U Black fought it out with Kaizen in a tight match, losing 25-22, 25-20 to finish with the silver medal.

The MVC 14U Black team is coached by Peter Stratford of Burlington and Kristin Kawamoto of Hamilton. Players include Elisa Mejia of Stoney Creek; Khloe Mattiozzi, Felicia Malavolta, Taylor Morrison, and Grace Heath, all of Hamilton; Megan Richer and Scarlett Windich, of Dundas; Megan Grosso, of Carlisle; Karmen Krug, of Waterdown; and Christina Stratford, of Burlington.
