The Mohawk mixed team, skipped by Wes Steen, scored one with the hammer in the eighth end to defeat the Fanshawe Falcons, 5-4, and wrap up the second day of play in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Curling Championship at Sault Ste. Marie on Friday (Feb. 14). Mohawk is now 2-1, the same as Algonquin and both teams trail unbeaten Humber after three.
The news was not as good for the men’s and women’s teams from Mohawk.

The Mountaineer men also slipped to 3-2. Logan James foursome was upset by Confederation, which won its first game in five tries. Mohawk is tied with Fleming and Humber. Fanshawe and Sault College share the men’s lead at 4-1.
Play resumes Saturday morning at 8 a.m., when the Mohawk mixed team plays Niagara. The men play at 8:30 a.m. versus Fanshawe and the women’s next game goes at 11:15 a.m., against Fleming.
