Mountaineers advance to semi-final in women’s curling

red-curling-rockKendall Haymes’ Mohawk women’s curling team finished round robin play with a 5-2 record and tied with Sault College for second place at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Curling Championships in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday (Feb. 15)

The Mountaineers downed Seneca 8-2 in four ends to complete their round robin play. They’ll meet the Sault in the semi-finals Sunday at 9 am. The winner will then play Fanshawe at 12:30 for the title. The Falcons were 6-1 in the prelims.

The Mohawk men, skipped by Logan James wound up 3-4 and the mixed team, led by Wes Steen, was 2-3. Both of those rinks failed to make the playoffs.
