The Mohawk Mountaineers have advanced to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men’s Volleyball playoffs.
The Mountaineers won their qualifying match, 25-20, 25-15, 19-25, 25-21, over the Loyalist Lancers of Belleville on Saturday (Feb. 15) at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.
Mohawk will meet the Algonquin Thunder of Ottawa in the quarter-finals on Thursday (Feb. 20), at Georgian College, host of the 2014 OCAA Championship. The Mountaineers are hoping to medal for the fourth year in a row. They took the silver last year, losing to the eventual national champions from Nipissing.
Mohawk took home bronze in both the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.
This year’s event will run until Sunday with the bronze medal game set for 4 p.m. and the Gold medal contest at 6 p.m.
