Marauders’ field general leaving baseball program


McMasterAfter nine seasons in the dugout, McMaster Marauders’ baseball coach Wayne Gowan has stepped down from his position.

A McMaster alumnus, Gowan took over as coach in 2005. During his tenure, Gowan guided the team to an overall record of 67 wins and 103 losses, with three playoff appearances in 2007-08-09.

In 2008, he was named Ontario University Athletics baseball coach of the year as his Marauders finished third in the standings before beating Western and Brock in the playoffs to secure McMaster’s first conference baseball championship.

A search to find a new varsity baseball coach will begin shortly.
