Having to face the top-ranked team in Canada on their home floor was the daunting task facing the McMaster women’s basketball team, and while they put up a game effort, the Windsor Lancers defeated the Marauders, 83-64, in an Ontario University Athletics semi-final Saturday evening (Feb. 22).

The Marauders kept things close through the first two quarters, trailing 19-13 after 10 minutes and 38-27 at halftime.

The Lancers made a push in the third frame and outscored the Marauders 25-16 to bump the margin to 63-43 heading into the final stanza. Despite facing a 20-point deficit the Marauders continued to play hard and won the final quarter, but could only shave a single point off the Windsor lead.

Hailey Milligan was the top shooter for McMaster with 16 points in the final game of her varsity career.

Windsor will now host Laurier, which upset Western earlier in the day, in the OUA West final.
