Defenceman Jordon Southorn has signed a professional try out contract with the American Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs.
Southorn has spent this season so far with the East Coast Hockey League’s Fort Wayne Komets and Elmira Jackals, and the Dundee Stars of the Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom.
In 39 games with Fort Wayne, the Montreal native has 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) and 36 penalty minutes. In three games with Elmira, the 6’3”, 205-pound defenceman recorded four points (one goal, three assists) and seven penalty minutes. In three games with Dundee, the 23-year-old recorded two assists and four penalty minutes.
In 191 career ECHL regular season games with the Trenton Devils, Trenton Titans, Wheeling Nailers, Jackals and Komets, Southorn has posted 91 points (29-62 assists) and 202 penalty minutes. In two career AHL regular season games with the Providence Bruins, he was held pointless with no penalties. He was originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth round (104th overall) in the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
