Milligan lead Ancaster to 7-3 win to even series

Ancaster-AvsAncaster Avalanche wasted little time in squaring up their best-of-seven quarter-final playoff series with the Thorold Blackhawks as they jumped into a 2-0 lead en route to a 7-3 victory over Thorold in the Morgan Firestone Arena on Saturday (March 1).

Thursday, Thorold won the opener of the Golden Horseshoe junior B hockey conference affair in the Thorold Community Arena/Frank Doherty Arena, 3-0. Game three will be played at Thorold on Monday (March 3) at 7:07 p.m. Game four goes the next night at 7:30 in the Chedoke Arena.

Jake Milligan paced the Ancaster attack with two goals including one on a powerplay, and one assist. Ryan Lewis added a goal and two assists while Zach Nieminen chipped in with a pair of goals.

Blake Luscombe scored once and set up another, while Cole Nagy rounded out the scoring. Chris Klack set up two of the Avalanche goals.

Zach McQuade, Chris Goulet, and Joe Mitchell on a powerplay replied for Thorold.
