The Red Deer Kings have reclaimed their crown as champions of men’s collegiate volleyball in Canada.
The Kings, who lost in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championship game last year, avenged that loss by defeating the Briercrest College Clippers 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-18) Saturday night (March 8) in Moose Jaw, Sask.
The Kings entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and proved worthy of that ranking. The team lost only one set during the championship.
Humber Hawks won the bronze medal defeating Columbia Bible College 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-10.
Humber advanced to the bronze medal match defeating Ontario champion Mohawk, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 29-13, 15-11. Eric Danecke was the Mountaineers’ player of the match with nine kills and seven digs.
