Dundas Real McCoys are riding an eight-game winning streak as they prepare to take on the Brantford Blast in the opening game of the John Ross Robertson Cup on Friday (March 21) in the JL Grightmire Arena.

The McCoys wrapped up the regular Allan Cup Hockey season with a four-game win streak and then swept Stoney Creek Generals in the best-of-seven semi-final.

“Their (Brantford) general manager said at the start of the year, they were the team to beat, and now we get to find out for real,” said Dundas GM and president Don Robertson. “Outside of (Matthew) Barnaby we are fairly healthy, and we will use this to prepare further for the intensity of the Allan Cup Tournament.

“We have every intention of putting forth our best effort to win this series because the Robertson Cup is one of the most prestigious hockey challenge cups in the world. It is very important to our group.”

Dundas went 11 games without a loss during the regular season. The streak began with a 10-3 win over Stoney Creek on Friday, Nov. 22 and ended on Friday, Jan. 17 in a 3-2 shootout loss to Brantford.
