Mohawks stars set to shine in basketball, volleyball

The top men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball players in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association will be showcased in the 2014 all-star games at Durham College in Oshawa Saturday (March 22).

Mohawk will be well represented in the events. Basketball stars Matt Fennell and Alex Reis will carry the Mountaineer colours. Andrew Cicuttini, who was scheduled to take part, will be unavailable.

In men’s volleyball, Bryce Marcussen will be the Mohawk rep.

On the women’s side, Stef Hrymak and JenJen Abella will be the Mountaineers’ basketball all-stars, while Chi Chi Chuks-Mady will suit up for the volleyball match.

The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with skills competitions. In women’s basketball, Hrymak will compete in the Women’s NBA Three-Point Shootout and Abella will take part in the NBA Skills Challenge.

In women’s volleyball, Chuks-Mady is entered in both the Hardest Spike and Serving Accuracy categories.

Fennell will be in both the Men’s NBA Three-Point Shootout and the NBA Skills Challenge.

In other men’s skills events, Marcussen will take part in the Hardest Spike competition while Mark Kaveckas will compete in both the Passing Accuracy and Serving Accuracy tests.

At 1:10 p.m. it’ll be the Women’s Volleyball All-Star Game. The Women’s Basketball All-Star Game begins at 1:30.

The Men’s Volleyball All-Star Game will be at 3:40 p.m. and at 4:10 pm, it’ll be the Men’s Basketball All-Star Game.
