Bulldogs fail to shine against Stars

bulldogsHamilton Bulldogs goaltender Devan Dubnyk made 36 saves, but the rest of the Bulldogs couldn’t muster any offence to help him out as the Texas Stars shutout the ‘Dogs 4-0 on Tuesday night (March 25) at Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas.

After a scoreless first period, Stars forward Justin Dowling scored the game’s first goal and eventual game winner at 9:35 of the second stanza with a wrist shot from the slot. Just under five minutes later, Taylor Peters hammered a one-timer past Dubnyk.

Two minutes into the third period, Dowling drove hard to the net and slipped his second goal of the night past Dubnyk to extend his team’s lead to 3-0.

Midway through the final frame, forward Scott Glennie completed the scoring.

Dubnyk faced 40 shots in the Bulldogs net while Cristopher Nilstorp stopped all 20 shots he faced in the Stars net.

Hamilton went 0-for-1 on the power play, while Texas went 0-for-2.

Hamilton’s next game is scheduled for Friday (March 28), when the ‘Dogs will visit the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) at AT&T Center at 8:30 p.m.
