Barrie Baycats pounce on Thunderbirds at Bernie Arbour

Jordan Neufeld pitched eight scoreless innings to back the Barrie Baycats to a 10-0 win over the Thunderbirds at Bernie Arbour Stadium on Monday.

Neufeld improved to 4-0 with the performance. He allowed three hits while striking out eight batters and walking two. Cam Newitt finished the game with an inning of relief to preserve the shutout.

Ryan Spataro clubbed a solo home run while Jeff Gowan, Dave Latour and Jordan Lundberg all had two hits in the win.

Brian Speck (0-1) took the loss after allowing four runs and six hits in seven innings. Justin Bartkiewicz was tagged for six runs in two innings of relief.

Jeff McGinn and Chris Novia doubled and Henry Duke had a pair of hits in the loss.

Hamilton now sits 6 1/2 games back of first place. The league leading Toronto Maple Leafs visit Hamilton on Wednesday (June 14) for a 7:30pm start.
