Welcome to HamiltonScores, a web site devoted exclusively to sport and athletes in and from Hamilton, Ontario – and the surrounding Golden Horseshoe area.
Independently founded in 2006, our mission has been to recognize the achievements of the many amateur athletes and sports that, in our opinion, aren’t given the coverage they deserve by local, traditional media outlets.
All of our news for the web site comes from contributions of sport coaches, managers, leaders and enthusiasts in the Hamilton area. We do not “lift” stories from other media organizations in the area or from wire services. (In fact, we’re humoured that some other, traditional media outlets consider us competition.)
We try to be fair to represent anyone who sends us a sport related story, whether it be a list of results or a press release. And if we don’t cover it, it’s either because no one told us about it (which does happen often) or not enough information was available.
If you have something to contribute; a team profile, event, tryout or scores; please see our contact page and e-mail us.
We’re proud of Hamilton and it’s athletes, so we’re happy to be able to share stories from our highly skilled and diverse community with the world.

Denis has been involved in the local sports scene for many years, as a former reporter and sports editor with The Hamilton Spectator. He likes to consider himself an athlete, participating in local baseball and curling leagues. But generally, it’s much better if his athletic achievements remain lost in media coverage. Denis is the face of HamiltonScores; he reviews and edits each story received before it is published.
Sean operates Healix Computing Solutions, an IT consulting and services company based in Hamilton. He is responsible for maintaining the web site, and also acts as assistant editor – specifically when Denis is away on assignment. Besides posting the stories, Sean also edits the submitted photos, monitors the @HamiltonScores Twitter feed, dabbles with YouTube, Google+, Facebook, Pinterest … and maintain the Google ads, which cover a random, annual staff meal.
