If nothing else, Hamilton Thunderbirds will know where Labatt Park is in London. And they’ll certainly know the Majors.
The eighth place senior Intercounty Baseball League team makes its second trip to The Forest City in three days, when the T-Birds return there on Friday night for a 7:30 pm game.
Hamilton travelled down the 401 on Wednesday night for a makeup game against the Majors and surprised the third-place team 8-5. London comes to Hamilton on Sunday for a regular schedule game.
Tony Daubert’s a game-winning two-run single in the fourth inning gave the Thunderbirds only their seventh win of the season against 17 losses. Daubert finished the night with three of Hamilton’s 11 hits. Tom Robertson and Andy Steeds each added a pair of hits to the T-Birds total.
Saul Gonzales (1-1) allowed three runs and nine hits in seven innings for the win.
London starter Mike Mitro (2-2) gave up five runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings. Adam Arnold struck out seven batters in three hitless innings of relief.
The 14-6 Majors had 13 hits in the game and twice left the bases loaded. They had the bases covered in the second inning with one out, but failed to score and again in the fourth, the bases were full with no result.
On Saturday night, the T-Birds visit the Royals in Guelph and welcome the Majors to Bernie Arbour Stadium at 2 pm on Sunday.
