Niagara Wasps show sharper sting than Hamilton Hornets 2nd

The Hamilton 2nds learned that size does matter. Playing against a much bigger team in the Niagara Rugby Union’s Men’s C Division, the Hornets were shutout 34-0 by the Niagara Wasps 2nds on Saturday. The Hornets fell to 2-5 on the season while the Wasps improved to 5-2.

The Hamilton forwards fought gamely against the Niagara pack and the Hornets’ front men managed to push their opponents off of some scrums and wheeled several others to more than hold their own in the scrum.

The Hornets’ backs were strong in defense with fullback Brian Montgomery leading the way by putting in a try saving tackle against an extremely fast and rampaging Wasps’ prop.

Eight man Dave Rivers was voted Man of the Game for the Hornets.

The Hornets 2nd head to Grimsby this weekend before ending the season with three straight home matches.
