Mohawk loses close exhibition basketball game to Laurier

An impressive 32-point effort from Panyin Kyei, a fourth-year guard from Toronto, accounted for just over a third of Mohawks scoring in a men’s 95-91 exhibition basketball loss to the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks.

Playing at Mohawk’s Brantford campus on Monday Night, the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Mountaineers also got 14 points each from Nick Gaspic (Hamilton), Igor Trbojevic (Hamilton) and Matt Bruyn (Brantford).

Mohawk head coach Brian Jonker was disappointed with the loss to the Hawks who play in the Ontario University Athletics league but said it was an entertaining contest.
The Mountaineers return to the court tonight (Tuesday) at their Fennell Avenue gym, as they host the Jamestown (N.Y.) Community College Jayhawks. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.
