Njoroge places sixth at 2007 ING Ottawa Marathon


Long distance Kenyan runner Simon Njoroge, based in Hamilton, placed sixth in the men’s division of the ING Ottawa Marathon on Sunday, May 27.

Njoroge completed the course in 2:11.14 which placed him third in the Men’s 25-29 bracket. In the same grouping and finishing eighth overall was countryman David Karanja. His time of 2:17.01 placed him fourth in the age grouping.

The race was won by another Kenyan, David Cheruiyot who set a course record, crossing the finish line with a personal best time of 2:10:35. The previous course record was held by Elly Rono, also from Kenya, with a time of 2:11:47, set in 2004.

Hamilton had a strong representation at the race. In the overall results, here is how Hamiltonians fared:
