Silver medal for ex-Mac swimmer Gotell at Eurowaves 2007

Former McMaster University Marauder swim team member Chelsey Gotell picked up a second place at the Eurowaves 2007 meet in Beno, Czech Republic.

Competing on the opening day (June 1) of the meet for swimmers with a disability, Gotell of Antigonish, N.S., took a silver medal in the S13 100m backstroke race. She was one of three Canadian swimmers to take a silver along with three golds and two bronze.

Darda Geiger of London, Anne Polinario of Montreal and Valerie Grand’Maison of Montreal won their respective 100-metre backstroke races. Grand’Maison, a quintuple gold medalist at the world championships last year, also added a bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
