The Niagara Thunder will take on Toronto Xtreme on Saturday for first place in the East division of the Rugby Canada Super League.
Going into the 3 p.m. game at Hamilton’s Mohawk Sports Complex, the two teams are tied for the top spot in the division. Both teams have 3 and 0 records with 14 points
The Thunder has made six changes to its lineup that beat Quebec Caribou last week and head coach Jeff Prince thinks that his mix of experience and young, new talent who have recently played for Canada U21 will give the Xtreme a test. Included in the Thunder lineup will be a face familiar to McMaster Marauder football fans. Jordan Kozina will be at open-side flanker. Also playing will be veteran Dave Knowles at #8 and captain Jon Goldie at fullback.
Prior to the RCSL game the Lightning, the Thunder’s Under 20 development squad, will play the Toronto U20 team, the Renegades, at 1p.m.
Admission is free to anyone under 16 years old. General admission is $10.00 at the gate.
The Thunder draws its players primarily from teams in the Golden Horseshoe area.
