Conrad Merkir of Brantford has rolled the second perfect 300 game of the 2007 – 2008 season with a 12 strike performance in the Jonarc Mens Classic League at Hamilton Mountain Bowl. With a 207 average, Merkir started with the 300 before “slipping” to a 267, followed by a 221 for a 788 triple. A 191 finish gave him a 979 series. The 300 is his fifth perfect game with the last one March 2001, also at Hamilton Mtn. Bowl. He also has a pair of 298’s and an 800 triple. His father Mike has a 299 game almost 10 years ago at Star Lanes in Brantford.
Ed Maurer, wife Kathy and daughters Andrea & Chrystal have joined the Pinchamps League this season at Hamilton Mountain Bowl and Ed almost recorded perfect game number six but came up 11 pins short with a 289. Ed’s last 300 was April 2003 at Mountain Bowl. And get well soon wishes are extended to one of Hamilton’s finest tenpin bowlers Sam Gualtieri who is recovering at home. We hope that he is back on the lanes soon trying to improve on his five perfect games. Tied for first in the history books with eight perfect games are Aaron Bouchard, Bill Rowe, Troy Demers & Art Oliver.
Another 289 game to report, this time at Prime Time Bowling by Ian Hazelton who scored a 962 (210, 259, 289, 204) series. William Russell tallied an even 1000 (279, 264, 248, 209) which included 791 for his first three. Lionel Lewis Jr. used a 257 to total 901, beating his buddy Art Oliver Jr. who had an 899. John Cherriere tallied an 894 (257), Jeff Lofft 879 and Walter Balog, after three sub par games fired a 270.
