Mac runner makes OUA all-star cross country team

McMaster Marauder Jessica Pearo has been named to the Ontario University Athletics first all-star cross country running team. Pearo, from Richmond Hill, is in her first year of OUA competition.

The University of Guelph boasted both the men’s and women’s Most Valuable Players, Coach of the Year and a Rookie of the Year in the OUA awards, announced on Tuesday (Oct. 30). The Gryphons were recognized with ten OUA all-stars in total, while the University of Windsor were well-represented with eight winners.

First-year student Lindsay Carson (Cambridge) of Guelph was awarded with the MVP of the Year award after an outstanding season for the Gryphons. Carson claimed the individual title at the OUA championships. Her coach, Dave Scott-Thomas, received the OUA Coach of the Year nod, for both the men’s and women’s events.

In the men’s event, the MVP Player of the Year went to Kyle Boorsma (Guelph), also a member of the Gryphons.
