The Hamilton Olympic Club’s Kelly Morrison took second place in the open ladies 60 metre hurdles event of the Toronto Nike Classic held at the University of Toronto on the Jan 18-19 weekend.
Morrison, who clocked 9.79 seconds in the final, qualified for the showdown with a 9.75 timing and third place finish in the preliminaries.
Club mate Emma Roung came home with a fourth place showing in the open ladies 60m dash. Her 7.95 second run was .o3 seconds better than her third place effort in the preliminaries. In the same event, Tamar Brereton was 10th ( 8.38), Morrison was 14th (8.81) and Kristen Boonsta was 15th (8.91).
In the preliminaries, Brereton was 12th (8.38), Morrison 15th (8.80), Boonsta 16th (8.87) and Natasha Auret 18th (9.10).
In the 300m open ladies final, Brereton was seventh (43.18) and Boonsta placed 12th in 47.44).
In the 60m open mens preliminaries James Noordam had a 23rd place showing (7.79) and had a 17th place finish (39.69) in the 300m open mens’ final .
