Championship Sunday, part of the Knoll Gas Nitro Jam national events, will make three showings this season in Canada, including Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga.
Castrol Raceway in Edmonton and Grand Bend Motorplex at the Lake Huron beach community will also stage the drag race showdowns staged by the International Hot Rod Association and Live Nation-Motorsports. Partners with them this season will be the Canadian auto parts chain, PartSource.
The Rocky Mountain Nationals/PartSource Championship Sunday will take place July 4-6 at Castrol; the Mopar Canadian Nationals/PartSource Championship Sunday will be held July 18-20 at Grand Bend Motorplex; and IHRA Canadian Nationals/PartSource Championship Sunday will run Sept. 19-21 at the Cayuga hardtop.
PartSource coming on board was a welcome addition to the drag racing program.
“PartSource is such a strong, active marketing partner and we’re thrilled they are involved with our Canadian races,” IHRA president Aaron Polburn said. “Our Canadian fans have proven to be passionate about IHRA Drag Racing and we look forward to this relationship and having a lot of fun at the races this season.”
The union was a natural one, said PartSource vice-president Bruce Allen.
“As one of the leading national specialty destinations for automotive parts, PartSource caters to the auto enthusiast,””said Allen. “We also share our customer’s passion for racing, which is why it makes perfect sense for PartSource and the International Hot Rod Association series to come together to bring this exciting sport to Canadian racing fans.”
PartSource has retail locations all across Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Winnipeg, Guelph, Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Brantford, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Oshawa, Windsor, Barrie, Sarnia, London and Ottawa.
Allen saw the Canadian Knoll Gas Nitro Jam events as the perfect platform to connect with car enthusiasts.
“Through PartSource’s active involvement in motorsports events over the years we have shared in the excitement and enthusiasm that racing fans have for this sport. We want to contribute our own leadership and expertise through this exciting partnership with IHRA to bring this event series to participants and fans across the country.”
