The hits were in good supply but there was a shortage of runs for the Hamilton Thunderbirds when they traveled to London on Sunday (May 25).
The T-Birds fell 7-2 to the Majors despite pounding out 10 hits in their senior Intercounty Baseball League game at Labatt Memorial Park. Chase Hamilton has three wins and six losses on the season, after splitting a pair of games on the weekend. On Saturday, the Thunderbirds drubbed the Stratford Nationals, 10-1.
In London, Geoff Allen had a double and a single to pace the T-Birds with Jesse Robertson adding two singles. Richard Wright contributed a double. Chase Gaff took the loss for Hamilton with Adam Ekland picking up the victory for the Majors.
At Stratford’s Nationals Stadium on Saturday, Zach Staniewicz got the win as he was tagged for seven hits.
Richard Rausch led the Hamilton attack with three doubles while Tom Robertson added a double and two singles. Highlighting the afternoon’s action was Wright’s inside the park home run. Wright also singled.
Next action for the Thunderbirds is Friday night (May 30) at 7:30 p.m. against the Kitchener Panthers who visit Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium, at the corner of Mohawk Road East and Upper Kenilworth in the Mohawk Sports Complex.
