End-of-season rugby loss drops Mohawk to second

Humber spoiled Mohawk’s perfect season in the final game of the regular season in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association rugby on Sunday (Oct. 26) defeating the Mountaineers 21-7 in Etobicoke.

John Tavares (Cathedral) got Mohawk’s lone try, which was converted by James Cumpson (Saltfleet). Both teams finished with 6-1 records and split their regular season meetings, but Humber’s victory over Mohawk was by a larger margin so the Hawks are awarded first place in the West Region.

Finishing second means the Mountaineers will visit the first place finisher in the East, Fleming College, in semi final play. That game is set for Saturday (Nov. 1) in Peterborough.

Humber will entertain Seneca on Sunday.
