McMaster Rower to compete in World Cup with Men’s Eights Crew

McMaster rowing alumni, Doug Csima (Oakville, ON) will represent Canada in the Senior Men’s Eights crew at the World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland July 10-12, 2009.

The Lucerne World Cup is the third in the series – Canada competed in World Cup 1 in Banyoles, Spain, May 29-31, 2009, bringing home four medals. Canada did not field a team for World Cup 2 Munich, Germany, June 19-21, 2009.

Csima was a member Senior Men’s Quad that won a bronze medal in World Cup 1 in 2009.

Csima began his rowing career at McMaster University in 2003, earning a seat in the varsity men’s top boat within weeks of taking up the sport. At McMaster, Csima, established three rowing ergometer records in the 2k, 6k and 60min that still stand today. After graduation in 2007, Csima moved to the Canadian training centre in Victoria, BC where he earned a place on Canada’s U-23 team in 2007.

Csima, in additon to training, is pursuing his Masters degree at the University of Victoria.
