Local umps get the call to call

district1As many Little League teams make their way down the Road to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., many umpires are doing so as well.

This year, Stephen Meyer and Rob Macdonald got the call to represent District 1 and Ontario at the Canadian Little League Championships in Val D’Or Quebec.

Meyer, 35, has been umpiring for over 20 years and is the Little League Ontario Umpire Consultant. Macdonald, 19, is in his ninth year as an umpire and first as Stoney Creek Optimist Little League’s umpire-in-chief.

The Canadian Championships start on Aug. 8 to the 15 with the winning team advancing to the Little League World Series to represent Canada.
