Little Leaguers set for Labour Day weekend Classic


This weekend, 10 teams from Ontario’s District 1 will participate in the annual Stoney Creek Optimist’s Little League Labour Day Classic Minor Little League All-Star Tournament. The tournament will feature two divisions – one for 9-year-olds and one for 10-year-olds.

In the younger division, Stoney Creek will be host to teams from Dundas, High Park (Toronto), and Oakville. Teams will play each other once in the preliminary round before the four teams will be seeded for the semi-finals on Sunday morning. The semi-final losing teams will play in a consolation game and the winners of the semis advancing to the finals at 2:30 PM on Sunday.

In the 10-year-old division, Stoney Creek will be host to teams from Ancaster, Dundas, Erindale, High Park (Toronto), and Oakville. The six teams have been divided into two pools. Teams will play each team in their pool once plus one crossover game. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the semi-finals on Sunday with the winners of the semi-finals advancing to the championship game at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

All games in the tournament will be played at Optimist Little League Park in Stoney Creek off of Highway 8 starting on Friday and concluding on Sunday.
