Two pitchers named Jessica teamed up to defeat the Conestoga Condors for Mohawk’s first win in seven tries in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s fastball this season.

The Mountaineers scored a 4-3 decision in Kitchener on Thursday (Sep. 24).

Mohawk scored two runs in the third inning and tacked on two more in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. Conestoga rallied for three in the bottom of the fourth, but failed to complete the comeback. Jessica Denstedt picked up the victory, working the first four frames. Only two of the runs she allowed were earned. Jessica Roloson finished up with three shutout innings.

At the plate, both Jenna Pletzer and Erika Downey went 2-for-3. Suzanne Hall was charged with the defeat for the Condors (1-2).

Mohawk, now 1-6, will be home to the Durham Lords on Tuesday (Sep. 29) at 6 p.m. at Mohawk Sports Park.
