Mohawk could challenge for third in OCAA golf

The Mohawk Mountaineers are tied for fourth place in Division Two at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Golf Championships at LochNess Links in Welland. The Mountaineers and George Brown are 24 strokes back of Cambrian, the division Leader. St. Lawrence Kingston is second, 16 off the pace, following day two on Tuesday (Oct. 6).

Mohawk’s top performer on Tuesday was Kyle Stephenson who fired a fine 77. Other Mohawk scores were Brendan Canning (86), Andrew Watson (87) Devin Johnston (89), and J.D. Shaw (91).

The lone Mohawk woman playing, Shelby Walker, shot 113. Danielle Green of Humber is the individual leader by five shots. Her Hawks are running away with the women’s section.
But in men’s Division One, quite a battle is being waged. Georgian leads Humber by just four strokes going into tomorrow’s (Wednesday) final day.

Taylor Booth of Fanshawe carded a 67 in round two and leads Joey Burton of Georgian by two strokes. Burton also shot 67.
