After splitting their first two games of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association rugby season, beating Fleming College, then losing to Humber, the Mohawk Mountaineers improved to 2-1, blanking the Conestoga Condors 28-0 in Kitchener.
John Packer, Joel Clarke, Alex Houston and Chris VanSickle scored tries for Mohawk and VanSickle converted them all.
Mountaineers’ head coach Alex Paris called it a scrappy game in the cold. “There was lots of good play, but not consistently,” said Paris. “There were dropped balls and missed tackles cost us points.”
Conestoga will pay a return visit to Mohawk Sports Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m.
