The Sheridan Bruins, playing their first Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s basketball game of the regular season, downed the Mohawk Mountaineers 94-45 at the Fennell Gymnasium on Friday (Nov. 13).
Mohawk’s record falls to 1-3.
Tracy Lehane paced Mohawk with 14 points, while Morgan Taylor added 11. Hali Burns of Sheridan led all scorers with 22 points.
Sheridan led 47-24 at halftime, but Mountaineers’ head coach Kelly Dunham says despite the score, her team competed in the first half. However, Sheridan got 10 quick points in the second because Mohawk wasn’t mentally ready to go.
Dunham remains confident her team will turn things around. “There is some talent there. We’ve just got to find it and work it and we will be competing at the end when it counts.”
