The Mohawk women’s basketball team’s Ontario Colleges Athletic Association record fell to 1-4 with a 66-58 decision to the Humber Hawks in Etobicoke on Thursday (Nov.19). The Hawks, 3-1, led 37-26 at half time.
Morgan Taylor had 15 points for the Mountaineers. Casey Boggs scored 13 and Michelle Abella added 11. Mohawk coach Kelly Dunham noted her team outscored the home side in the second half, even though they fell behind by 15 points.
The Mountaineers managed to get to within six points of Humber with three minutes remaining, but couldn’t get any closer. “We played really strong on defence. It was outstanding. But decision making hurt us”, said Dunham. “(We had) many turnovers. But the team didn’t give up.”
