Bulldogs gain two, lose one in player movements

The Hamilton Bulldogs have signed forward Grant Stevenson to an American Hockey League contract for the remainder of the 2009-2010 season and forward Mathieu Curadeau to a Professional Tryout contract.

Stevenson, 28, played in 59 games with the Chicago Wolves last season recording 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) and 31 penalty minutes. In 2007-2008, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound right wing led the Quad City Flames in points with 73 (30 goals, 43 assists) while also ranking second in the AHL in power play goals with 19.

The native of Spruce Grove, Alberta played in 47 National Hockey League games with the San Jose Sharks during the 2005-2006 season where he accumulated 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) and 14 penalty minutes. Stevenson has played in 363 AHL games with the Wolves, Flames, Cleveland Barons and Worcester Sharks registering 227 points (89 goals, 138 assists) and 242 penalty minutes.

Curadeau, 24, played in three games with the Worcester Sharks this past weekend recording the game-winning goal on Sunday. In 11 games with the East Coast Hockey League’s Kalamazoo Wings this season, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound centre leads the club in goals with nine while registering 13 points (nine goals, four assists) and 22 penalty minutes.

Curadeau won the International Hockey League’s 2008 and 2009 Turner Cup Championship with the Fort Wayne Komets. The Montreal native has played in 22 AHL games with the Sharks and Norfolk Admirals posting four points (three goals, one assist) and 23 penalty minutes.

At the same time the Bulldogs bid adieu to Sergei Kostitsyn who has been recalled to the parent Montreal Canadiens of the NHL.

Kostitsyn, 22, ranks second on this Bulldogs in points this season with 13 (four goals, nine assists) and has served two penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 210-pound left winger has played in 108 career games with the Canadiens registering 50 points (17 goals, 33 assists) and 115 penalty minutes.

The native of Novopolotsk, Belarus, was Montreal’s seventh round, (200th overall) selection in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The Bulldogs host the Rochester Americans tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 24) at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
