’Dogs return home with four-game win streak

Hamilton Bulldogs extended their win streak to four games as they ended a seven-game road trip.

The Bulldogs concluded their road show yesterday (Sunday) with a 3-2 decision over the Admirals in Milwaukee. Hamilton’s string included a 5-0 blanking of Rockford on Jan.27, a 4-1 decision over Milwaukee the following night, and a 3-2 shoot-out win on Jan. 30 in Chicago.

On Sunday, it was Brock Trotter’s two power play goals that led the ’Dogs to victory.

Hamilton got on the scoreboard first and 65 seconds into the game. Tom Pyatt took a pass from Ryan White and shot on net. The puck trickled through the pads of Milwaukee goaltender Mark Dekanich and Max Pacioretty shovelled it over the goal line. Pyatt would finish with two assists.

The ‘Dogs added to their lead midway through the second period. Trotter collected the puck at the left faceoff circle before blasting a shot that sailed over the glove of Dekanich.

The Admirals cut the lead to 2-1 at 8:10 of the final frame. Jonathan Blum received the puck from Hugh Jessiman before relaying to Colin Wilson whose shot beat netminder Curtis Sanford.

Trotter’s second goal, and the game winner, came at 14:38 of the period. Pyatt dished a pass to Trotter, who snapped a shot that deflected off the arm of Dekanich and into the net.

Jessiman scored at 17:33 to bring the Admirals to within one at 17:33. The Bulldogs outshot their hosts, 26-25 before a crowd of 5,288.

The Bulldogs will host the San Antonio Rampage on Wednesday (Feb.3) at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
