Mountain Athletic Club (MAC) Volleyball 14U Girls won their second Bronze medal of the season at the 14U Girls Challenge Cup – Championship West in St. Catharine’s.
In pool play, MAC was defeated by the Halton Hurricanes Black, 21-25, 13-25, 15-6. MAC’ s Hayley Genovy served up seven straight points, including a couple of aces.
Against the eventual tournament champion Georgetown Impact, MAC was defeated 17-25, 15-25. Finishing second in their pool, MAC crossed over to face Toronto West in the playoffs, winning 25-10, 25-23. Vicky Golebiowski had an eight serve run and Katiana Pare scored five service aces.
MAC 14U moved on to win the quarter finals against the South County Teal Bandits, 25-15, 15-13. Mila Krunic led the team in serves, including two aces.
In the semi-Finals against the Waterloo Tigers Black, MAC was defeated 10-25, 16-25. Briana Layard and Michelle Walker both served aces during the match.
In the Bronze Medal game against London Forest City Green, MAC fought it out and won 28-26, 25-27, 15-8. Brittany Vanderlaan led the team in digs and Briana Layard led in blocks.
The MAC 14U girls team is coached by Siobhan Mondesire and Greg Elvikis.
