Synchronized skaters advance to championships

It was a parade of first for local skaters at the 2010 Ontario Regional Synchronized Skating Championships, February 12 – 14, in Fort Erie.

Representing the Burlington and Kitchener-Waterloo skating clubs, the Senior NEXXICE team placed first with 207.70 points. Representing the Burlington SC, NEXXICE Junior and Open teams also placed first with 159.76 points and 111.14 points respectively.

In the Novice division, Burlington SC’s Ice Image team was first with 84.58 points.

All four teams have qualified for entry to the BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships to be held in Brampton, March 4-6.

Following are the placements of the remaining area teams which did not advance:

Pre-Novice: Dazzling Diamonds, South Dumfries, 13th, 27.14 points.

Juvenile: Ice Image, Burlington, fifth, 37.21.

Adult Class I: Crystal Formations, Brant, ninth, 53.48.

Adult Class II: Ancaster Affinity, Ancaster, third, 52.15.
Crystal Formations, Brant, 14th, 35.55.

Adult Class III: Classic Image, Burlington, third, 26.36.
