More team records set in 10-pin bowling


The five man team – three game record of 3323 had been in the record books for 14 years.

In October it was beaten at Star Lanes with 3368 and three months later the 3368 was beaten, again at Star Lanes with 3407. Now the 3407 is gone with a new record score of 3488, again at Star. The same five men have rolled the 3368, the 3407 and now the 3488. John Henley was tops this time with 726 (258,265,203) followed by Deric Curley 710 (217,255,238), Randy Park 697 (247,221,229), Terry Mees 689 (242,231,216) and Reg Howe 666 (212,241,213). Their game scores were 1176, 1213 & 1099. The 1213 second game score is also a new record, surpassing the 1198 from 22 years ago.

The next day after the 3488 was rolled, the four man team – four game record of 3735 was pushed to second by a 3800 score at Skyway Lanes. These record breakers are Ryan Dickenson 1016 (258,248,246,264), Aaron Bouchard 995 (217,244,279,255), Tim Enoksen 941 (247,169,245,280) and Dave Custeau 848 (203,199,279,167).

The Skyway juniors are turning in impressive scores with Nick Murphy the best with triples of 773 (257,248,268) & 684 (205,244,235). Ben Konyi blasted a 692(267)and 649 (246), Chelsea King 677 (257,245),and 648 (244), Billy Craig 650 (223), Kyle Gilmour 628 with a pair of 221’s, Jennifer Lewis
615 (245), Christine Johnston 597 (227),Ryan Melanson 583 (227) and Ryan Wells was plus 46 with a 152 & Zoey Male plus 42 with a fine 202. With a 200 average, Brody Ostrosser dealt a 707 (279), Dylan Herchenroder 619 (245),Joey Rowe 581, Jan White 245, Shawnna Prieur 232 & Laurie Bailey 561
(212).

In Thursday Match Play at Skyway, Alan Easton started with seven strikes for a 254 & Kevin Lenko rang up the last nine for a 270. In other Skyway action, Art Oliver Sr. 248, Gary Reid Jr. 243, Wendell Harrison 679 (255), Doug Stickney 651 (267),Nobby Herchenroder 664 (255), Brent Andrecyk 248, Derek Hannah 246, Jim Margueratt 238 and Nobby’s mother Kitty was plus 51 with a 187 while Phil McCue 169 average, smashed a 694 (256). The Cancer Assistance Program Bowl at Skyway raised $8033.

At Prime Time Bowling, Ed Maurer exploded with a 1046 (257,247,277,265) & Sue Ross dealt a 665 (239). Top singles are Jeff Lofft 279,Sioban Ryans 278, Matt Kennedy 277, Russell Ross 265 & Laurie Dickson was plus 80 with a 404. Top averages are Sean Patterson 230 & Ryans 211.

At Burlington Bowl, Catherine Rowe is tops with her 217 average, 729 triple & 258 single. Top singles are Mick Anderer 279, Vic Riding 278 & Mike Braet 277. Star Lanes action saw Conrad Merkir groove a 769 (255,257,257) to enable his team to win the league title by half a point.

TENPIN TRIVIA: Bowling is on all seven continents as there is a two-lane center at Antartica’s McMurdo Station built by the Navy in 1961. The pins are hand set and a gong is sounded to announce a strike or spare as the scores are usually 120 to 150 as the lanes are in rough shape. In 2007, a 94 year old legally blind women, rolled a 244 in the U.S. & in 1907 the highest game rolled in the entire United States was a 296.
