The visiting Brantford Red Sox sent ten batters to the plate and scored six times in the top of the first inning on their way to grounding the Hamilton Thunderbirds by a final score of 10-0.
Josh McCurty got Brantford on the board first with a solo homerun on the third pitch to open the game. Brantford added to their lead in the first inning with an RBI single from Bryon Bell and a pair of two-RBI singles from Wayne Foreman and Al Stephens. The Red Sox scored an additional three runs in the fourth inning and one more in the eighth to take a ten run lead.
In the rout, Brantford’s McCurty went 3-for-5 at the plate with a homerun and a double while Foreman went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. For Hamilton, they had a double off the bat of Matt McGraw and singles from Darnell Duckett and Colin Zwieble. Zwieble was the only player to have two hits off on the Brantford pitching.
The Hamilton Thunderbirds will take to the field on Thursday May 27th in Barrie to take on the Baycats. The Thunderbirds will return home the following night, Friday May 28th, when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs starting at 7:30pm.
