Pedro Castro of Brossard, Que., who won the Canadian Junior Racquetball Championship, last month, caused the big upset on day one of the Canadian National Racquetball Championships in Burnaby, B.C., as he defeated Ancaster’s Eric Desrochers, 15-13, 15-11. Castro is seeded 12th and Desrochers 5th.

The other top men’s seeds all won, including defending champion and #1 seed Kris Odegard of Saskatoon, who won an all-Saskatchewan battle with Colin Mohr of Regina, 15-5, 15-4.

Second seed Vincent Gagnon (Montreal) and third seed Mike Green of Burlington also both won comfortably with Green victorious over Josh Keil (Saskatoon), 15-2, 15-1, and Gagnon defeating James Landeryou (Saskatoon) 15-2, 15-3.
