Mountaineers take pre-season OCAA soccer test from Royals

mountaineersSirwan Irandost scored the game winner and Mohawk went on to a 4-2 decision over Redeemer in pre-season Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s soccer at Costco Field in Ancaster Saturday (Aug. 28).

Irandost got to a loose ball inside the six yard box to score in the 66th minute. Ephraim Cirillo got an insurance marker for the Mountaineers seven minutes from time.

The teams split four first half goals. The game was just a few minutes old when Taylor Prins put the host Royals ahead, but Davis MacLeod pounced on a rebound in the 25th minute to tie the score. Mohawk then pulled ahead by a goal on a close-in header by Matthew Kernick in the 34th minute.

Four minutes later Everett Graham got Redeemer even again as he converted a rebound.
