Kyle Harber of Mohawk College came within a stroke of the individual championship at the Fanshawe Invitational golf event in London.
Harber shot at 71 to lead the Mohawk contingent during a round which included an hour long spell of wind and rain to make play even more challenging in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association event on Saturday (Sept. 18). The Mountaineers had other very positive performances. Kyle Stephenson and J.D. Shaw each shot 78, Andrew Farlow carded 82, and Brandon Taylor and Brendan Canning each came in at 84. The team finished fifth in the seven-team field.
Next up for Mohawk, in a very short and compact season, is the Niagara Invitational, Sept. 29. The following week sees the OCAA championship, Oct. 3-6 at the Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay, near Thornbury. The Raven was co-designed by tour veteran Tom Lehman and course designer Thomas McBroom.
