Warriors put 3-game winning streak on the line


WarriorsThe Stoney Creek Jr. B Warriors (3-1) will put their 3-game winning streak on the line when they visit the Port Colborne Pirates (3-1-1) this afternoon at 3:00PM.

The 4th place Warriors hold a game in hand on the Pirates, 2nd place St. Catharines Falcons and the undefeated first place Thorold Blackhawks.

Port Colborne is led this afternoon by centre Dillon Rivier (6 goals and 6 assists). Pat Clifford has 8 points, while in goal Joe Gladnick has started all five of the Pirates games, posting a 3-1-1 record and a 3.16 GAA and a save percentage of .907.

Stoney Creek’s hot line of Marcus Ruberto, Myles Falasco and Mike Casale will be counted on for more offense as will team scoring leader David Ruberto. D. Ruberto has scored 6 goals and 4 assists in just 4 games, but has dropped to 11th place in league scoring. Stoney Creek will rely on him to continue scoring at this torrid pace.

Elsewhere around the GOJHL the LaSalle Vipers’ DJ Turner leads the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League in scoring with 17 points. Vipers’ Drew Palmer and Guelph Hurricanes’ Martin Kudla are tied in second with 13 points, followed by Port Colborne’s Dillon Rivier with 12 pts.

The Warriors next home game is set for Thursday September 30th when the 2nd-place St. Catharines Falcons come to town. Game time at Valley Park arena is 7:30PM.
Then the Thorold Blackhawks will visit Stoney Creek on Thursday Oct. 7th.
